Week 5 is here, and I am freaking out. I’m here at Lafayette presenting in an hour, not knowing what to present because all I have is a table of contents that I really am very proud of.
I’ve run into a few rough spots over the last few weeks. I found that two parts of my projects, the scanning of the Burma-Bucknell Bowl and the Burmese student database, might not be feasible, although I still keep a database for the students just in case. I’ve decided to keep them to myself to possibly pursue at a later date. The Burma-Bucknell bowl is still an important topic, however, and I am determined to find a way to represent the bowl visually other than pictures. I’m currently planning a picture carousel to display the bowl to create an artificial 3d look at the cup.
Another challenge that I am currently facing is how to cite materials from the archive. I’ve been working with Isabella to see what I need for the citations. Archival citing is similar yet different from regular citing in that my primary sources are unpublished manuscripts that generally have no title and are categorized by the source.
Monday update: the presentation went pretty well. People seemed to be interested in what I had to say and the layout of the site was well received. I am excited to finish the project.
