Week 8 post – Lily

My experience at the Digital Scholarship was very pleasant. The morning session focused on how to make a presentation. I was really nervous about speaking in front of an audience. Although there were only a few of them, I was shaking while introducing my project. I know it takes practice and I need to work on that. The session gave us directions on ways to organize a short introduction, which was very useful for our future presentations.

The afternoon session was peer evaluations. I found that Gettysburg students’ projects were very similar to ours. It was very interesting to see what others had done with the same tools we learned about. For my project, I got some very helpful feedback. The elevator speech in the morning session mentioned that a presenter needs to talk about the “payoff” of his or her own project. The “payoff” explains the reasons why the project is important to the audience. I need that “payoff” part in my project to make it more meaningful.

Overall, the trip to Gettysburg was a nice experience. The students there were super friendly, and the feedback I got was very helpful.
